BBC Sex I.D.

Posted in Review by Man on December 8, 2006

Yesterday I watched this programme by the BBC called the Secret of the Sexes. From the title you should have already know what the programme is about. It is so interesting that till this day men and women are still fighting about which is the better sex. I think god have definitely created some disadvantages and advantages in both sex and no sex is better than the other they are equal. So people please stop arguing with this thing, but I can accept it that this is a scientific study. Anyway does BBC loves to create such documentary like Child of Our Time and such.

I went to the BBC website I took the survey, if you are interested please go here, and I am here to share with you the results. Overall my ‘brainsex’ was just 25 points below the average man. The first task testedability to identify the angle of a line by matching it with its twin. A spatial task, which looks at how I picture space and I scored 14 out of 20 and it was a normal score. The second task I must say is the hardest personally for me it tested my ability to identify which objects changed position. It gives you this whole chuck of objects and it was hard for me to remember all the objects places. But my score gave me a balanced female-male brain. Part 2 of the test shows me that I have a dominant left brain which I found not quite right, personally.

Part 3 of the task tested on emotions. Interestingly I score 10 out of 20 the average woman was 10.6 but I was definitely upset that I was not empathy enough. The second part of this test was to find Systemisers who prefer to investigate how systems work. I score 8 out of 20 the same average score for the women. When it comes to my ability to judge people’s emotions test, I scored 7 out of 10 suggesting I am a good empathiser, sensitive to other people’s emotions. Women generally fall into this category.

Part 4 of the test find out how much amount of testosterone I have. I scored 0.94 below the average of the men and women. But this test was measuring the ring and index fingers difference and I am an asian, the size of asians finger are much smaller than those to the western counterpart so I would think this test is a little lousy.

Part 5 of the test task looked at how I rate the attractiveness of a series of faces. And the test choices suggest I prefer more masculine faces. I really don;t think I prefer masculine faces but faces that are much longer in the height and people with sharp cheeks I prefer faces like that than round faces.

Part 6 this task tested my ability to mentally rotate 3D shapes. They say this task was one of the more difficult task but I feel the ‘rotating of the 3D shapes’ in this test was much easier than the IQ test by the International High IQ Society test in rotating 3D shapes. The IQ test had so big of a 3D shape and was simply daunting to try to rotate such a big object in your brain. Nearly a third of men who took this test got full marks, whereas less than 10 per cent of women managed the same.

So this test was really for fun nothing taken too seriously but it was interesting to find out some stuff about yourself you never know. Some of the test was rather vague and could have loopholes. But you can try it out yourself.

I think my wife sums it up best. When she thinks I have a good idea, she says I’m thinking like her. But when she thinks I have a bad idea, then she claims that I’m thinking like a man.(LOL)
